Lifton Farm Shop Wind Turbine Approved

Sadly the Western Morning News article dated Saturday 25th January 2014 has turned out  to be correct and the Appeal has been granted but is dated today the 28th January 2014.

Full details can be found by following the links for 00063/2013 on the WDBC site.

How the Western Morning News found out the results of the Appeal before the Appeal decision was made remains a mystery!

CPRE Teignbridge Seminar – 21st February 2014

You are invited to

A CPRE Teignbridge Seminar

with guest speaker Anne Marie Morris, MP

Friday 21st February 2014

9.30am-12.30pm

Newton Abbot Racecourse & Conferencing Centre

Newton Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 3AF

Devon’s countryside and coastline are facing huge threats as the drive for economic growth increasingly takes precedence over environmental protection.  Throughout the County, large numbers of proposals for wind, solar and housing developments are being applied for at an alarming rate.  At the same time, the Government says it is committed to devolving power to local communities which should give CPRE Devon a better opportunity to help shape the future of Devon’s towns and villages.

CPRE Devon is increasingly being asked to advise and assist with these planning applications.  We are therefore holding this free* morning seminar for interested parties, which we trust will be useful.

In the last 12 months various statements have been issued regarding how local people could have their voices heard concerning such proposals.  There is much confusion with regards to such legislation – The Localism Act, the NPPF, Neighbourhood Plans, etc.  We are therefore delighted that our local MP for Newton Abbot, Anne Marie Morris, will be joining us and help to provide some clarity.

Our Teignbridge District Group has a proud history of defending this part of Devon from inappropriate development and we hope that this seminar will help start a new chapter in its history.  Please join us.

Heane Farm – Hatherleigh – Solar/Wind Turbine Proposal

MI-grid Ltd is exploring the possibility of building some form of renewable energy system at Heane Farm, Hatherleigh and are circulating leaflets around the area to test the water!

Amongst their suggestions are:-

1.   A 5Mw Solar Farm covering approximately 25 acres.

2.   Three 100m+ wind turbines which would have a combined output of 6Mw

3.  Single Medium scale wind turbine (900kKw)/Single Small scale wind turbine (50Kw)

A decision on which development will take place will be taken following the result of a screening opinion from the local authority and upon consideration of the responses received from the leaflet.

If you wish to contact mi-grid then you may email them at heane@mi-grid.co.uk or by writing to them at:-

Wortham Farm Wind Turbine – 00300/2013

I’m sorry to tell you that the Appeal against WDBC’s planning refusal for this Wind Turbine at Wortham Farm has been allowed.

This means another 77m wind turbine not far from the one just built at Roadford Reservoir and not far from the similar sized proposed one at Lifton Farm Shop!

The Planning Inspectors report is available in full on the WDBC planning site under 00300/2013.

Beckwell Wind Turbine – 01243/30113

We have now been advised that this application will not go to Committee until the 4th March meeting at the earliest due to questions being raised as to the closeness of the Iron Age Fort and questions on the noise levels of the particular turbine chosen.

The Site meeting is still scheduled for 10am on Thursday 23rd January 2014 at which objectors may be present to witness. The official Parish representative will be able to speak and the agent and applicant will be able to answer questions,. There will be not general debate or opportunity to make presentations.

This will be a good chance for all objectors to visit the site and see for themselves the exact positioning of the proposed wind turbine.
