A CPRE Teignbridge Seminar
with guest speaker Anne Marie Morris, MP
Friday 21st February 2014
9.30am-12.30pm
Newton Abbot Racecourse & Conferencing Centre
Newton Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 3AF
Devon’s countryside and coastline are facing huge threats as the drive for economic growth increasingly takes precedence over environmental protection. Throughout the County, large numbers of proposals for wind, solar and housing developments are being applied for at an alarming rate. At the same time, the Government says it is committed to devolving power to local communities which should give CPRE Devon a better opportunity to help shape the future of Devon’s towns and villages.
CPRE Devon is increasingly being asked to advise and assist with these planning applications. We are therefore holding this free* morning seminar for interested parties, which we trust will be useful.
In the last 12 months various statements have been issued regarding how local people could have their voices heard concerning such proposals. There is much confusion with regards to such legislation – The Localism Act, the NPPF, Neighbourhood Plans, etc. We are therefore delighted that our local MP for Newton Abbot, Anne Marie Morris, will be joining us and help to provide some clarity.
Our Teignbridge District Group has a proud history of defending this part of Devon from inappropriate development and we hope that this seminar will help start a new chapter in its history. Please join us.
